Boys' PCL Championship Wrap Up

Our Boys’ team took on the Philadelphia Catholic League this past Sunday at Lehigh University for the PCL Championship. Persevering through a harder than usual indoor season, we are so proud our Boys showed up and competed. Here’s a complete breakdown of the splits, PRs, and other hard-fought races.
Kicking things off, we will start with the field events. In the Shot Put we had Jake Kelly ’24 and Rookie Senior Ergi Mujo ’22 competing with the PCL’s best. Jake took home 5th place overall with a new PR throw of 38-5.50! Ergi also had a career PR throwing 23-4!
Over to Long Jump, Tymir Bradley ’22 and Rich Paczewski ’23 both had a very good day. Tymir missed placing by one spot with his PR jump of 19-6.25! Rich also PR’d with his jump of 19-2.50! Our lone Pole Vaulter, Jake Cahill ’23, took home a 6th place medal with a clearance of 9-0!
Wrapping up the field events, we had Triple Jump and High Jump. Leading off with High Jump, Rich Paczewski ’23 and Jake Kelly ’24 both performed admirably. Rich cleared 5-2 and Jake cleared 5-0! In Triple Jump, both Jack Dunne ’24 and Tymir Bradley ’22 aimed to do well. Jack set a career PR with a jump of 32-6, and Tymir jumped 35-10.50!
Transitioning to the running events, we had the 4x200m Relay take to the track first, and the relay team of Corey Demas ’25, Azaan Flowers ’22, Tymir Bradley ’22, and Rich Paczewski ’23 did not disappoint by taking 4th place with a team time of 1:37.96 which is a season’s best! Here are the splits:
Corey: 25.5
Azaan: 23.6
Tymir: 24.7
Rich: 23.8
In the 60m Trials, Jake Kelly ’24 ran a PR of 7.63 which brought him back for the 60m finals where he PR’d again with a 7.57! He took 10th place. In the 60m Hurdle Trials, Monmouth University commit Brad Cantoral ’22 ran a PA Top 25 time of 8.67, and Corey Demas ’25 ran a PR of 9.67! Both boys came back for finals and put on a show. In the 60m Hurdle Finals, the Philadelphia Catholic League Champion Brad Cantoral ’22 ran a career PR of 8.29 which is the 3rd fastest time in Pennsylvania! Corey Demas ’25 PR’d again and took 3rd place in the Catholic League with a time of 9.54!
In the Mile, we had Patrick McLaughlin ’22 and Bishop Norman ’25 take on the gauntlet of 1600 meters. Both Patrick and Bishop ran respectable times of 5:49 and 5:50! In the 400m Dash, Benjamin Johnson ’22 and part-time wrestler Nick Rehfuss ’23 put down some quick times. Ben PR’d with a 57.05 and Nick ran his first race of the year with a 58.17!
Next on the track was the Freshman 4x400m Relay! Our team consisting of Bishop Norman ’25, Andy Deng ’25, Dumebi Mako ’25, and Nick Davido ran a competitive 4:03 team time which took 4th place! Here are the split breakdowns:
Bishop: 63
Andy: 71
Dumebi: 70.5 PR
Nick: 73.2
Following the Freshman race, the 200m Dash was on the track. We had Azaan Flowers ’22 taking the track for us. Azaan PR’d in the open 200 with a time of 24.92! Next up was the Open 800m, Andrei Frigura ’22 and Luke Contino ’22 both battled in tough race. Andrei took 5th in the Catholic League with a time of 2:03.93! Luke tied his career best with a time of 2:21!
Wrapping up the day was the 4x400m relay and the 4x800m relay, first up the 4x400m relay team of Bishop Norman ’25, Tymir Bradley ’22, Luke Contino ’22, and Rich Paczewski ’23. The relay took 7th place with a team time of 4:02.45. Here is the split breakdown:
Bishop: 63
Tymir: 58.5 Season’s Best
Luke: 62.7 Season’s Best
Rich: 56.8 Event Debut
Last but not least, the 4x800m relay team consisting of Andrei Frigura ’22, Deven Salvatore ’23, Benjamin Johnson ’22, and Nick Rehfuss ’23 took 5th place in the Catholic League with a team time of 8:59.43. Here’s the split breakdown:

Ben: 2:15
Nick: 2:19 Season’s Best
Our Boys’ put up a valiant effort this past Sunday taking 7th place as a team in the Catholic League. There is a lot of promise with this team and we have some good building blocks to take into, what is going to be, a very fun Outdoor season. We still have one boy competing in post season activities so those updates will happen but for those whose season has ended, rest up and get ready for outdoor!
